Looking for a little help. I have been trying to find an old friend from the Army for a couple of years now. His name was Ray Keeley and he was from Brooklyn. He was in Vietnam in 1966-1967. He returned home to Brooklyn in mid 1967. His last unit was C company 2nd Battalion, 47th Inf., 9th Inf Div. Don't know much more than that, other than he had a daughter born in 66-67 time frame. If anyone knows anything about Ray please let me know. You have a great web page here and it is nice to see people so proud about their community. What a great idea.

Irene Fiore, Sorry it took so long to answer. I haven't been on for a while. Anyway, I did not attend St. Agnes School. I moved to 472 Degraw St (from 320 Van Brunt)around 1957 when my mom died. I was 16 and graduated from Holy Trinity HS and went to St John's U for a while before working in MJ (part of OZ). I knew a lot of the kids that went to St. A, like the Murphy girls and a lot of others. I think Carmela (Mela) Spinella, my friend Vinnie's kid sister went there too. Did you know anyone from DeGraw Street? I knew a few people on Douglas Street, cannot remember names right now, mention them, I may remember. Just a PS, I also delivered the Brooklyn Eagle for a few years.

I am saddened to have lost my oldest and dearest friend, Barbara Gulbrandsen Ross. Barbara and I have maintained contact and visited each other over the past 50 years of our lives. And we had many visits on the internet to share our lives' challenges and joys in recent years. She was always there for me and I was there for her. I last talked to her 6 days before her death and because she was unable to speak above a whisper on the phone we decided we would rely on "Snail Mail" to communicate, since her computer was down. She had lots of hope in her voice that night. I was shocked when Cathy called to tell me Barbara had passed away. But, I know that she is spared much suffering in the progression of her illness because she was so special in God's plan of helping our fellow human beings. I trust that she is being given her just reward for having been the kind of person and friend that she was known to be.
I would like to hear from any of her close friends, who were fortunate enough to be at her funeral. She was my link to Red Hook and the old friends from the neighborhood. Barbara was a great connector of people! I will miss her in so many ways.

Jim White, The house you refer to is 182, the family is Ed Ramsey Sr, seated on chair with the hat. His wife Deli is on the stoop, seated next to her is John, and standing is (I think?) Joey Burton. On the white stoop 180, Meltons house is Hazel Melton, the remaing three people I cannot identify. This photo was sent to me by a gent from Pa believe it or not. But even I was confused when I first viewed it. Thanks for your input...

Hi everyone, i was one of those kids from Visitation who did attend services at Christ Chapel, as well as be a lector at the 12:30 mass. I usually went with Eddie Donahue's family. i always wanted to be a priest, and am in my second year of seminary for the Episcopal priesthood. some of my friends think i am crazy being a grandfather and going back to school. but everyone is very supportive.

We were terribly shocked and saddened to learn (thru this site) about Barbara Ross. As a beautiful little girl, she was my niece's (Kathleen Graves) playmate. So very sorry to hear the news about a beautiful person.

Hello, I have greatly enjoyed browsing through this wonderful site. As a high school student who has a long Brooklyn lineage, yet have not lived there myself, I have found the information and stories from this sight enlightening. If I may pose a question to any who might have information: after the war, my Grandfather managed a Baseball team called the Celtics. Later the name was changed to the Flynn Celtics in honor of a man named Flynn who was the sponsor of the team. My knowledge about this team is quite limited, and I was curious to see if anybody knew anything that they could pass along. Thank You

To the family of Barbara Ross formerly Barbara Gulbrandsen our deepest condolences. Barbara was a beautiful person and did so much for Red Hook in support of all of the people in the Red Hook Community. She kept the Red Hook Community Medical Center thriving with her genuine personality, extensive knowledge and experience of the business and she truly cared about those in need. She will be deeply missed by all. The funeral services will be at Duffy's today and tomorrow and mass at Visitation. Barbara will be greatly missed by the Red Hook community and should be honored by all who live there for her courage and spirit and drive to keep Red Hookers healthy. A sad day for Red Hook.

Hello Hookers! Pointers! Still very proud of our roots!!! About Christ Chapel when I was there last year ,I visited the Church it is now Penecostal but still as beautiful inside as I remember it to be! When I walked into the enterence I noticed one of the stained glass windows had my Grandmother Lucy Libertas family name on it ... It sent shivers down my spine... I stayed for the service and remebered Father Fox(a wonderful person!) deliving his sermans , and reflected going thru the stations of the cross , when we would walk from one beautiful stained glass window to another ... It was a beautiful ceremony for Easter.... The windows are still in tact!... I remember my Visitation friends who were afraid to visit my church bevcause they thought they'd burn in you know where if they entered... If you live there you really should go inside just to see a big piece of history ... and better art than any gallery could show you ! But bettewr hurry before it becomes a resturant or art gallery or condo! Love Yas! Lucy & Cheno
