The
South Brooklyn
Network

Why is it called South Brooklyn?

The communities of Brooklyn Heights, Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill, Gowanus, Red Hook, and Park Slope comprised the southern portion of the village of Breukelen - one of the six original Dutch villages that are now the borough of Brooklyn.

Go for a journey through our neighborhoods. Learn some of the history, meet the real people who live here, and learn about the hidden treasures within the brownstone neighborhoods of Brooklyn.

Happy Easter everyone. Oh how grown up we were with our little heels and maybe red with the bag and hat to match. We were sniffy all dressed up. We would go to Mass at Visitation and take our time walking home...showing off. Today give these kids sneakers and jeans and thats it. Hey does anybody remember a Sissy Colten? I'm wondering whatever happened to her. She lived on Coffey St. in the 50s. Happy Easter!!!!Louise

Happy St Patricks Day to all RED HOOK-ers past and present. Hey Mike, that spiral staircase sure was a something. The Visitation class plays were my first taste of "SHOW BIZ" hahaha . The nuns worked so hard and the community supported them too. Great days!!!
