Francis, did Marie Acocella have a brother named Mike? I used to work with a Mike Acocella at Grogan's Hardware store on Van Brunt St. and I often wondered how he was doing. Thanks for any info. Red Hook Forever! Joe |

PS, My step-father was Jim (Jigger) Harris, one of 8 brothers in Red Hook. I'm sure most of you remember the family. We lived originally at 112 King St then we moved to Walcott, we moved 3 times on Walcott and never got off the same side of the street. (the side that Dougherty's was on). |

Hi, I know a lot of the people who have sent emails to this site. Of course you all had nicknames. I go back to the ps 30 reunion with Frank Campagna and the Agnese twins, Rose Spezio and Rose Averalla, Barbara O'Conner and Harry Nespoli. Maureen Camera and Diane Rusch also attend along with Fortunata Pagano. Its so much fun to see the names posted here. I live on Staten Island along with a lot of Red Hook people. See you in September for the annual reunion. |

Dear Kathy, Deirdre, & Family,
Bob, Kimberlee & I we are so sorry to hear of Craig's passing. My girlfriend Dolores O'Connor (DeFliece) just called me down here in Virginia to tell me the news of your loss. I don't know if you recall Kimberlee could never remember his name as Craig and used to always refer to him as crab your mother always got such a laugh out of it. When I think of the good times I've shared with your mother what wonderful memories I have!!! Hope all is well with all the rest of you I know I'm slow at answering but that's how country life has me now. Kimberlee's daughter is 4 years old now, Kimberlee got engaged again and will marry in March of '06. I went to a wedding in PA. this week-end with Bob and sat at the table with my good friend Dolores & Eileen O'Connor. It was good to see all the New Yorker's again. Take care till I hear from you again. |

Indeed. Bruce Banner is the name of the character that becomes the Incredible Hulk, and anyone who saw the the Spiderman movies knows that it was young Peter Parker under that mask. BTW, I use to purchase my comic books from Mary's candy store on Van Brunt betweeen Dikeman and Coffey.;) Mark, I think someone may be playing with us. |

Dear Mark, You deserve our trust & respect for allowing all of us to feel at home here. Unfortunately, I'm getting a creepy feeling. Aren't peter parker, & bruce banner trademarked names of Marvel Comics ( SpiderMan,& The Hulk' pedesterian names)? Some people need more than a disguise. |

I'm sure some of you know the Amendola family. John was a sweetheart and will be truly missed. If anyone wants to attend, here's the information:
John Joseph Browne, 34, a mover, died suddenly on Sunday at his Oakwood home.
Born in Brooklyn, Mr. Browne moved to Oakwood with his family when he was 5 years old.
He attended New Dorp High School.
At the time of his death, Mr. Browne had worked for five years for Eagle Transfer Moving and Storage Co. in Long Island City, Queens.
He loved baseball -- especially attending New York Yankees games.
Mr. Browne cherished time spent with his family.
We'll miss our uncle very much, said his nephew and niece, Nicholas and Gianna Vitalle.
Mr. Browne was a parishioner of St. Charles R.C. Church, Oakwood.
Surviving are his parents, John and Elizabeth Browne; his daughter, Tiffany Browne; two sisters, Christine Vitalle and Jennifer Browne, and a brother, Anthony.
The funeral will be tomorrow from the Colonial Funeral Home, New Dorp, with a mass at 9:15 a.m. in St. Charles Church. Burial will follow in Moravian Cemetery, New Dorp. |

Thank you for your kind words for my family. Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated.
My posting of the other night regarding Craig Clyne's passing failed to recognize some very important people.
First of all My brother-in-law Bill Wobbe (Dikeman Street). Bill and Kathy have been married for 30+ years. Bill has been right there whenever we needed him for whatever reason. Through the good times and the trials and tribulations he has always been there. Eleanor(LuLu) Kennecke(Conover Street). Larry and Eleanor also married for 30+ years. Eleanor is ready for Sainthood just for putting up with us. Mary Ann (Femmiano) Clyne while not a Red Hooker probably thinks she is because she has listened to our tales all these years. Her Son Steven is getting married on Saturday. We will celebrate! Tommy Higgins. Also not a Red Hooker but he soon found out about the Hook. Tommy had to go through Craig and Austin when he was dating Deirdre. Think of what that must have been like if you know Craig and Austin. Carol (Fornatora) Clyne from Bath Avenue. Carol and I were married in 1976. It will be 30 years in Oct 2006. It's been a difficult 10 years for Carol but still she carries on.
I find strength and insriation in the example set by my Mom and Dad, Kitty and George Clyne and from the good times I had growing up by the waterfront. It's comforting to know that our children who have been through all of the stuff of the last 12 years have learned the importance of family.
Thanks again.
Bye for now.
Ronald. |

Photographer's paradise. Got best pics of NYC with Brooklyn Bridge in foreground as it has been done thousands of times before. Best view of lower Manhattan. Great neighborhood, too. Visited on 5/21/05. |

Hi Peter,I moved into 146 Conover St, top floor left next door to The Huchinsons in 1962. If you remember Ethel she is my sister-in-law. Skinny Andy lived on the first floor and the Silvetties on the second. Did you move out of Red Hook? hahaha, I was going to tell you the sharks name was Mack the knife. Small world. You know they knocked down 146 but 147 & 148 are still standing. We had a great view of Manhattan imagine what the rent would be today? Take care...............Louise |
