I lived in the projects, 15 Bush St., from the summer of 50 to the summer of 54. In that short time, I still have wonderful memories of friends and community. I just found this site and will be checking it out daily. |

for Mark Phillips, our web-master, I notice when these jerks post those stupid advertisements, they include their email address. Is there any way we users of this site can flood their computors by generating loads of replys to those imbeciles, and flood their network? Maybe if this is possible we could discourage their childish minds, and put a stop to their stupidity...Let us know will you? I'm sure everyone wants to help stop this nonsense. |

I grew up in Red Hook and am looking for anyone on this site that might have attended Manhattan School of Aviation Trades in the late 60s. I know that there must be a few out there. |

Hi everyone! If you are on this site and reading posts then chances are you also grew up in this area. I grew up around the corner from the 9th Street Bridge and Battery Tunnel. I went to Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary grammar school ( Hicks Street? ) in the late 60's. I graduated in 1971. We moved to Long Island before I had a chance to go to Saint Stephen's HS in Carroll Gardens. My father still visits the old neighborhood and when taking a ride a few years ago I saw that the school is now apartments. I know that this may be a long shot, but 'nothing ventured, nothing gained.' I would love to hear from anyone who went to school at Sacred Heart, especially within my time fame. Where are you Mary C., Jodi C., Marie A., Theresa D., Stephen C., Bernadette F., etc, etc... My husband is still living where he went to school and grew up with our neighbors. At times I feel like I am missing and yearning for a 'lost' part of my past and wonder where and what all my friends from that time are doing now. ( Guess that is what happens now at this time of life--- lol. ) Anyhow-- if anyone could email me with any info at all I would greatly appreciate it. I'll try to look back at the posts from time to time but if you could email me that would be great. These days time is limited and I would be able to at least read my email. Thanks again! By the way, my maiden name is RoseMarie Ferrara. Hope one of you out there can help! Regards to all you South Brooklynites! Take care and have a great day! :-) |

Lucy, I don't believe I know you or your friend but I will include him in my prayers today. My parents are from Red Hook and I was born there but we left shortly after but returned often as the rest of our family remained in Red Hook for a long time. |

First to I. Black.... That was very deep and purpurseful (if there is such a word! ...And if not I have created one! O.K. NOW for a very dear friend of ours and a Veit Nam vet that suffers everyday of his life Macho Bravo (Jose O.) We ask you to plaese pray hard for him! He as some of you know is a 57 year old man , that did two tours in Nam...Black Berette...He has been walking around with bullets lodged in his brain all these years...He was not suposed to have lived alll these years but he is a strong willed man... He has a heart of pure gold , helps people constantly, people have taken advantage of him thoughout the years and he just shrugs it off... Never holding a grudge... well lately for several months now he has had constant seizures and eposodes... I am no doctor but I suspect the bullets are moving... The V.A. has told him all they can do is hold his hand and comfort him , at this time... This morning he was taken to the V.A. hospital in Tampa... I am asking you to please pray for this fellow Red Hook man... Our friend and comrade ... Thank You! from the bottom of my heart! |

OKAY, that does it. If you use an offensive classless posting, it comes down. If you want this guestbook to stay active as a way to find and communicate with lost frriends, fine. I am not going to read disgusting sexual and racist comments on MY site. If it continues, this guestbook is GONE. |

For Joe Ross, I replied to your questions about the parks and ballfields in the hook a while back, and I was somewhat hazy about Coffey Park. An historian friend of mine Bob Geelan, read my post and was kind enough to send me some interesting data, it seems the park was officially opened as "Red Hook Park" on June 16, 1901. evidently Senator Michael J. Coffey though he was instrumental in achieving the park construction for Red Hook was out of favor with the Democratic machine. And while his name un-officially stuck with the park down through the years, He had to settle for the honor of only Coffey Street bearing his name for our history books. |

Hi Everyone,
Just a note to say my husband my sister and I had a wonderful time at the old timers day. It was really enjoyable seeing so many people that I have not seen in years.
I also want to thank the VFW Post members for all there hard work in putting this all together to make it an enjoyable day. You all worked so very hard servicing the food and drinks. The food was fantastic and I had a ball. This was my first time and I guarantee if you have it again next year, we will be there. Thanks again.
