Memories of Tony’s Pizzeria. With the picture of the Little Big Horn on the wall in the restaurant side. The Shuffle board on the bar side and a juke box with some great records. Leave Tony’s and go across Van Brunt St. to the bakery for the Best black and white cookies in Brooklyn.

Susan L. - Yep, you gotta love the nosey neighbors! My best friend from 2nd Place married a girl from 1st Place and moved there. Her name is Corrine, but you might know her brother Bart or sister Vicky. I recall a girl named Grace Ann that lived on 1st place that made quite an impression back in the 70's :)

Susan L. - You are correct. Burt Reynolds shot the movie "Shamus" in 1973 in several places in the Park Slope section. As kids, my parent's had us standing outside O'Neill's card shop on 5ht Ave and 10th St. I believe, with the crowd watching Burt come downstairs from a poolhall scene they shot on the 2nd floor. He also had a scene near one of the warehouses on 3rd Street.

Lucy, regarding good pizza, we got lucky here in my area of Florida. We have Pesce's Pizza in Orange City and it's just like we used to get, since Pesce is from Red Hook. He also likes talking about the old neighborhood.

tom h. I was just thinking that my brother went to bishop ford's.. he is 50 now. Wow we are getting there :) he is 3 years older then me. I wasnt aware of Pete Sergie's claim to fame with his movie appearence. But i do remember the filming of a cop movie with Bert Reynolds during that time period. It was over near 4th or 5th avenue -- he was coming out of a pool hall, or soemthing like that.

Susan L. - We used to go to Pete's candy store all the time, including when he moved over to Court St. near 3rd Place. The old Pete's then became Pepaw's. I remember Pete's had a small appearance in the movie "The Super Cops" back in 1974.

Susan L. - Chopper sounds familiar. I'm 44 - graduated from St. Mary's in 1975, and from Bishop Ford in 1979. I remember our backyard almost backed up to Grace Pensigilone's yard. I'm the oldest of three.

Tom K., I lived around the block from you. I used to hang with Lester Capatosto. My cousins the Walsh's lived near Court on Warren. I used to stay at Butler and Court St at night near the Baldesari Candy store, remember it was downstairs. I understand Joe became a shrink, good old days.

For Margerete and Ester -- you seem to be of my mother's era. They lived on Nelson street and went to st. mary's star of the sea. then they moved to degraw street. you all were in the same time frame -- it seems at the same time... mom's name is frances latella and had a few sisters and one brother.
