To Gerard Zimmerman: I remember you. You lived in the big apartment building on Wyckoff. The building super's name was Walsh. Are those the Walshes you were related to or the Walsh family (with 15 kids) on Warren St.? I remember most of the other names you mentioned. I've been in touch with a few people from the old neighborhood. Remember the nuns at St. Paul's? Particularly Sister Margaret from the 7th grade? Fun times. Take care. Tom |

I WAS BORN AND RAISED ON UNION ST BETWEEN HICKS AND HENRY. THIS WAS THE SAME BLOCK ON WHICH THE MICCIO CENTER P.A.L. WAS LOCATED. I SPENT MANY HAPPY DAYS AT THE P.A.L. WHICH HAD ALL SORTS OF ACTIVITIES FOR KIDS OF ALL AGES. I HAVE BEEN LOOKING AT THIS SITE AND DID NOT FIND ANY MENTION OF THE P.A.L. WONDER IF ANYONE OUT THERE REMEMBERS THE GOOD TIMES SPENT THERE. |

Hey Pat L. Thanks for birthday wish. Just remember: If I'm aging, its because my body is not pickled in booze, unlike my Southern Irish friend. |

Tom H Yes, I went to the Rex lots of times over the years. Even when we moved away and my parents still lived on First Pl.; we would visit and go to movies sometimes. I loved the city and its conveniences of "just walking" to where u wanna go. |

Tom H Tell me about culture shock...! I moved out of the area to MD in '87 and then finally packed up the house in '89. No place like home. I do remember that long skinny loaf of Eyetalian Bread!! When a teen; we would come home late and get a a loaf with some butter, eatting it walking all the say home. YUM nothing like that too... |

Susan L. - My family moved down South in 1979 when my father's employer relocated. I know most of my childhood friends are still in Brooklyn. It was culture shock moving to a town of 10,000 people after growing up in NYC. Did you ever go to the Rex Cinema or get hero sandwiches on Sinatra bread from Joe's on Smith Street? :) |
