I dont understand why scammers like to take the time sending this site so much "junk mail". They start off saying how they Love this site. Send thier greetings & what a great site it is, keep up the good work & then take time to write up all products being offered. Boggles my mind. Asking them to stop advertising clearly shows that they have nothing better to do with thier time. What a waste & so petty.
Guests on this site are enjoying talking about the Good Old Days & Looking for friends, Neighborhood Happenings etc. Good things. Since you have all this excess time on your hands try voluteering to a worthy cause. Use your time for something worth while. Let us enjoy this site which takes us from the bad times happening here in this country. |

The Old Timers Day at the Vets Post last week was a delight. "The Point", as we called Red Hook in my day, was fun to visit. To my surprise my old boyhood home was still proudly standing and has been refurbished..189 Richard Street (top floor). The McCabes (remember Felix McCabe's horse drawn vegetable wagon?)lived over the store "Belmont The Butcher". The hodgens then moved into the McCabes floor some time in the 50's. After Belmont the Butcher left we had Gypsies move into the store and that was so much fun and excitement for us kids. As usual they also became family to us. That was the way "Pointers" "Red hookers" lived. Remember? We knew it was hight tide becuse the cellar always flooded. By the way, Cathern and Felix McCabe moved to Dikeman street ajecent to Barschow's junk yard. There was so much recall that day at the Vet's Club. We have so many wonderful stories to tell. Miss you all. Love, Joseph (Billy) Murphy (Mae and "Iron Hat" Murphy's son, May They rest In Peace) |

Joy in old age.- The thinker, as likewise the artist, who has put his best self into his works, feels an almost malicious joy when he sees how mind and body are being slowly damaged and destroyed by time, as if from a dark corner he were spying a thief at his money-chest, knowing all the time that it was empty and his treasures in safety.---- ...... |

to whom it may concern this site is something that alot of people use to contact old friends and relatives. it is so sad that the few inconsiderate people that have no one to talk too or have no kind of life that they have to spread there filth on such a nice site. what i think that you should do is get one anothers email addresses and write your filth to one another and stay off this family friendly site which means so much to so many god bless |

Wow! Such incredible FILTH! How about a time filter, instead of an instant site posting. I would gladly wait whatever period of time, to eventually see comments. Kanye West, during the fundraiser for New Orleans, was uncensored. Normally, there is a time delay to prevent profane language. Is it technically possible to censor before the site posts a comment? Wow, what filth. |

I cannot believe someone is trying to excuse these imbecillic trashes of the guest book site. What in hell is a repressive parochial school. The idiots that post their obscene messages are nothing more than pornographic graffitti artists who must destroy because they are not capable of creating. If mark decides to shut down this section of his great SBNW I for one will completely understand his frustration. |

See what happens to wonderful children (Trinity), when they attend a repressive parochial school, & their instincts are thwarted. After years of suppression,an Adult Sex Addict comes alive on the Web. My sincerest hopes are that Mark, whatever is done, realizes that, despite the drivel of unfortunates, has a site that allows people to touch each other in the most generous way. |

Thank you to all the Red Hookers past and present who came to pay tribute to my father Charles Kruger, Jr. who lived in Red Hook throughout his lifetime. He will be remembered in Red HOOK for his warm spirit and love for the neighborhood, the people and his passion for the maritime shipping industry. He loved Red Hook past and present and recently Cowhey & Sons ended a century of business in Red Hook and Dad helped preserve it's history through working with a good friend and neighbor Carolina to transport the artifacts to a Museum that will us to remember the businesses and people who made Red Hook what it was. The 1938 Hyster my Dad drove through Red Hook for several decades...looked like a dinosaur from the back-end, will always remind me of Dad tipping his cap to our friends as he passed through the neighborhood for 50 years doing what he loved best. May my Dad's memory live on in Red Hook for years to come. |

Go love another site. George F. : Great story. We tried to be high wire artists on the fences in Coffee Park. Another risky hobby was making, & then having "Wars" with "carpet guns". Cut up pieces of linoleum were our bullets. The occasional throwing of stones were also part of our rituals. Free bus rides were a challenge on those back bumpers. We almost became Blacksmiths, heating up metal rubble in the ruins of the demolished houses, before the 11 story Projects went up. |
